GILBERT, William Frederick 'Fred'

of Wiarton passed away peacefully with family by his side on Sunday, June 24, 2012 in his 89th year. Cherished husband of the late Jean (Chatterley) Gilbert for 62 years. Much loved father of Sheila and her husband Reinhardt Toellner of Seaforth, Gary and his wife Sheila of Wiarton and Dave of Wiarton. Special grandfather of 8 and great grandfather of 12. Fred will be missed by his sister Betty (Don) Waller of Brampton and brother-in-law Jim Chatterley of Michigan as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and his faithful companion Boots. Fred was predeceased by his parents Amelia (Lowndes) and William Gilbert, sisters Winnifred Gilbert, Lillian Blake and Doris Dolphin, son Rick and daughter-in-law Nancy Gilbert.

Family and friends are invited to share their memories at the GEORGE FUNERAL HOME, Wiarton on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. There will be a Royal Canadian Legion Service Tuesday at 6:45 p.m. The funeral service to celebrate Fred's life will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Interment Bayview Cemetery. Donations made to Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency Canada or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family as expressions of sympathy.
