Obituary of Douglas Milton Hayes

With his coveralls and boots on he died suddenly while checking on his cattle Thursday evening April 9th, 2015. Douglas Milton Hayes in his 62nd year. Dear father of Julie (Bill) Davis and Chris Hayes of Owen Sound. Loving grandfather to Spencer, Colton and Peyton Davis. Brother of Barb (Scotty) Miller, Pat (Scott) Wilson, Roger (Sandy) Hayes, Sherry (Jim) Hayes, Tim Hayes and Ted (Phyllis) Hayes. Predeceased by parents Milt and Sarah Hayes. “Farm-grandpa” was inspired by his 3 grandchildren as he welcomed and cherished the time and early morning phone calls from them while sharing his lifetime passion for farming, the outdoors and keeping busy. He will be missed by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, friends, fellow farmers and neighbours for his generosity, his sense of humour and his willingness to stop and talk with anyone he ever met whether it was a stranger or not. He worked very hard his whole life and even though he passed away too soon he kept busy and used the time that he did have always waking up early every morning. Doug grew up in Cape Chin and eventually took over the family farm where he loved the quiet peaceful setting. Friends may call at the BETHEL MISSIONARY CHURCH, 18 Ferndale Road, Lion's Head on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted at the Church on Friday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Brad Inglis officiating. Interment Eastnor Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the GEORGE FUNERAL HOME, LION’S HEAD CHAPEL, Lion’s Head. Expressions of remembrance to St. Margaret's Chapel of Cape Chin would be appreciated. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family through www.georgefuneralhome.com A tree will be planted in the Memorial Forest of the Grey Sauble Conservation Foundation in memory of Doug by the GEORGE FUNERAL HOME.
